Student-Athlete of the Week: Daniel Huertas

Sophomore forward Daniel Huertas of the men’s soccer team scored his, and the Iona’s first goal of the season on Friday, Aug. 26 against No. 16 UConn. Moments after the No. 16 ranked Huskies scored in the opening minute, the reigning MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year and All-MAAC First team selection knotted the score of an assist from junior Matias Correa.

Huertas latched onto a through ball from Correa on the right hand side and was able to cleverly chip it over the UConn goalkeeper to get the Gaels on the board.
